Pizza Heroes is a 7 page rpg partly inspired by the Olive Garden larp. It leads with some inexplicably thirsty 1700s art, and then digs right into the mechanics. Which are golden and baked to perfection.
You play Pizza Heroes with a deck of cards, and also by ordering a pizza.
And you tip extremely well.
Pizza Heroes uses the delivery time as its frame. While the pizza is on its way, you use the cards as prompts to tell a story of its journey.
Honestly, I love this. It makes waiting for the pizza not an act of impatience, but an thing where you're actively participating and rooting for the delivery person.
The writing is clever and the prompts are fun, and the game price is built around the cost of a pizza delivery (I think.)
If you're willing to splash out some money for something that will improve every single pizza you order from now on, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of this game.
A really sweet and evocative game that captures the heart of the creativity of the indie scene. The "Fellow Pizza Hero" card brought such a smile to my face.
Pizza tested and pizza approved. If you have a creative and hungry group it's a blast (unless your pizza is late, but that's no fault of this game). The real pizza was the friends we made along the way.
